Kutaisi

Kutaisi is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of Georgia’s most historically important places. It’s the main city of the Imereti region in western Georgia and is known for its ancient history, relaxed atmosphere, caves, canyons, and beautiful surroundings. Kutaisi was once the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Colchis — the legendary land connected to the Greek myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece. Later, it also became the capital of medieval Georgian kingdoms. Today, Kutaisi feels calmer and greener than Tbilisi, with a mix of old neighborhoods, Soviet-era architecture, markets, riverside views, and historic churches.
