Tskhaltubo

Tskhaltubo is a spa resort town in western Georgia, near Kutaisi, famous for its warm mineral springs, abandoned Soviet sanatoriums, and relaxing atmosphere. Tskaltubo became extremely popular during the Soviet era because of its natural radon-carbonate mineral waters, which stay around 33–35°C naturally year-round. People visited from all across the Soviet Union for treatments, relaxation, and rehabilitation. At its peak, the town had huge luxurious sanatorium complexes, parks, bathhouses, and hotels. Even Joseph Stalin reportedly visited Tskaltubo several times for spa treatments.
